Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Nespresso D150 Espresso Machine, BlackCustomer Review: Great Machine for Espresso ONLY... Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great machine for espresso. I would recommend it time and time again. It's consistent and convenient. There are a variety of pods so you can get specific levels of strength for your taste. For example, I like dark and full-body coffees while my wife likes lighter coffees. Now, we can have coffee together without a large production. It's just a matter of using a different pod for my/her cup.
The draw back!!! I am also a "drip" coffee drinker. In my opinion, this machine does not replace my drip coffee maker. I had hoped that I could just add more hot water with the espresso from this machine and replace my drip coffee machine all together... well, that hasn't happened. I don't look to this machine to satisfy my drip coffee needs... For that, I am a firm believer of the Senseo machine from Philips using their dark coffee pods.
In short... the best coffee combo for both espresso and drip is this machine and the Senseo dark roast. You can't go wrong if you have both of these machines.
Description of Nespresso D150 Espresso Machine, BlackNespresso has developed a unique extraction system specially adapted to capsules. It controls every vital setting when preparing a perfect espresso. Nespresso machines have been designed with renowned partners and designers, and bring out the taste and aromas of coffee by combining quality of design with ease of use. The Nespresso D150 machine is part of our classic line. Classic Line machines all have the capsule holder system that uses the traditional gesture for preparing an espresso. They are designed with clean, simple, box shaped lines. The D150 machine deploys technology essential for preparing an outstanding Espresso, and is exceptionally easy to use. Manual control of the amount of coffee in the cup. A high pressure pump (19 bars) extracts all the aromas and develops a smooth crema in the cup. A thermobloc which heats water to 187°and 196° during extraction and empties the remaining water after each use so that the water is fresh for each preparation. Removable steam nozzle for hot water and steam. Cups warming plate. Black and stainless steel ABS finish. A simple system with a capsule holder which perforates the capsule and soaks all the ground coffee to optimally filter the coffee. Removable water container (41 oz) If you're an espresso, cappuccino, and/or latte fancier with an aversion to messiness and a devotion to uncomplicated appliances, this is the espresso machine for you. Instead of requiring an operator to measure out and carefully tamp down ground coffee and then dispose of wet grounds, it uses capsules filled with exactly the amount of ground coffee needed for one cup of espresso (use two capsules for a larger cappuccino or latte). After use, simply discard the capsule, which won't spill grounds on the counter. Nespresso sends along 20 capsules of two varieties of coffee with the machine, and they offer additional capsules in nine varieties of coffee, including two decaffeinated, for sale on their Web site or by toll-free telephone order. Other features of the 12-by-8-by-11-1/2-inch, 1,200-watt machine: The plastic water reservoir (1-1/4 quarts, or 24 espressos) lifts off for easy filling; the steam wand/hot-water nozzle has a built-in frothing attachment for creating cappuccino and latte foam; and on top of the machine is a metal plate for prewarming cups. (Two espresso cups and saucers are included.) Cleaning the machine is simple, with clear instructions and a tool provided. --Fred Brack Editor's note: This item may arrive with water inside from the manufacturer's pressure test. This is a normal occurrence and doesn't point to a problem with the machine.
