Customer Review: Makes the best espresso I have ever had

I received this as a Christmas gift last year, and I was disappointed because I already had 2 espresso machines, a Rancilio Silva using ground espresso, and a DeLonghi that could use pods. I could not see how another espresso machine would make anything better. I bought my espresso beans from Alterra in Wisconsin, as I have found them to make the best espresso possible and much better than Starbucks, and I used Lavazza pods which I found to be the best available in pod form. I have been drinking espresso since my first trip to Italy, more than 45 years ago, and I have always loved it. I like only natural coffees (French press for US style coffee), with natural caffeine and without any artificial additives or syrups. We spend a lot of time in Rome and I live in Miami, both places where it espresso is readily available and very good. Once I tried this machine, I was amazed to find out that the dark black espresso that I have always loved is not the total dimension of the kind of espresso that is available. Nespresso pods offer an amazing variety of natural blends of espresso beans, roasted to different intensities, offering a whole new universe of espresso flavors I had never tried before. I began with the Nespresso pods rated 10, for the deepest richest flavor, as I that was always what I had liked in espresso. Then when I was in Rome I visited a Nespresso boutique near via Condotti and I sampled an espresso rated 7, finding I liked that even better. i then began sampling other pods they rated from 3 to 7, zeroing in on what I now prefer which are pods rated 4 and 5. They have a variety of flavor nuances that I had never experienced before in espresso, with a great aftertaste. I find that the pods rated 9 and 10 are best for making cappuccino, as the less intense espresso does not come through as well when the milk is added to it. This espresso maker operates flawlessly, is easy to clean, heats up amazingly fast, and for the first time in my life it is easy to make one or more espressos, rather than a chore that I undergo because I love the result. Even the DeLonghi now seems like a lot of work. The milk frother is also the best way to make cappuccino, as it is much cleaner, faster, and simpler than using a steam wand. All in all, for anyone who really loves espresso, this machine cannot be beat. The cost of the pods is purely secondary if you love espresso as I do.
Update: I no longer think of Espresso as homogeneous, I want different kinds at different times because of the variety available on this machine. My tastes range from 4 rated types which are lighter to 5,6, and 8 rated types for straight espresso, depending on my mood. For latte or cappuccino though you need 9 or 10 rated espresso and more than 1 pod for me. I would guess that the cost of this machine is subsidized by the company because of the captive audience it creates for pods, as comparable machines with non exclusive pods are much more expensive. The pods run about 50 cents but overall with the relatively lower cost of the machine I do not find that offensive. Delivery of pods is amazingly fast when you order, and shipping charges are not out of line (though nothing beats Amazon Prime). Others commented that espresso did not stay hot enough, that seems a problem with many machines but one solution is the Bodum insulated glass espresso cups, they are beautiful but delicate and they keep the coffee hot much longer in 2 1/2 oz espresso and 3 oz. sizes "Bodum Canteen Double-Wall Shot/Espresso Glasses"
